Introduction

The OTbase Discovery Agent is designed for a scenario where, for practical reasons, you cannot discover a computer system remotely via WinRM (Windows) or SSH (Linux). To remedy the situation, you can install the OTbase Discovery Agent on that system. It runs as a local service and does not require any inbound network access. Just like the standard OTbase Discovery product, it will provide asset details either in the form of a direct upload to OTbase Inventory, or as a file.

The important thing to note is that the Discovery Agent will only discover the system that it is running on; it does not do any further network discovery. Another difference to the standard Discovery version is that configuration can be done via a local configuration file or via OTbase Discovery Manager (starting with OTBase Discovery Agent v2.0 and OTbase Discovery Manager v14.7). 

Note that the Discovery Agent will not expose any asset data other than exporting it to OTbase Inventory.
