Introduction

The OTbase Discovery Executable is designed for scenarios where, for practical reasons, you cannot discover a computer system remotely via WinRM (Windows) or SSH (Linux) or install a service. To remedy the situation, you can run the OTbase Discovery Executable directly on that system, even from an USB stick. It does not require any inbound network access. Just like the standard OTbase Discovery product, it will provide asset details as a file, that will be placed next to the executable.

The important thing to note is that the Discovery Executable will only discover the system that it is running on; it does not perform any further network discovery. Another difference from the standard Discovery version is that configuration is done via user input after you start the programm.

Note that the Discovery Executable will not expose any asset data other than exporting it to a file for OTbase Inventory. It also doesn’t respond to OTbase Discovery Manager.
