On the system where you want to run the Discovery Executable, log in as administrator to run the Discovery Executable – or run it with administrative rights. This is necessary because otherwise you wouldn’t get all the details about security patches that you need for your vulnerability management.
ZIP File
The Discovery Executable comes as ZIP file, containing all necessary components to run directly on Windows systems.
The ZIP file includes:
- 32-bit version executable: Suitable for running on 32-bit Windows operating systems.
- 64-bit version executable: Designed for use on 64-bit Windows operating systems.
Choose the right file to run based on your computer's type. For example, if you have a 64-bit Windows computer, you should double-click on "OTbase Discovery Executable V1.0 x64.exe" to start it.

- Launch the OTbase Discovery Executable. A new window will open, guiding you through the configuration steps that are necessary each time you launch OTbase Discovery Executable. *
- You will be required to provide a Location ID for the computer running OTbase Discovery Executable. When in doubt, ask your OTbase Inventory administrator. Note that providing a Location ID is mandatory.
- If you have previously started OTbase Discovery Executable on this computer, the last used Location ID will be available for selection.
- After selecting a location ID, you will be prompted to assign a Location ID and name to any detected network interface. The Location ID is mandatory, while the name will default to the network's address if not provided. When in doubt, ask your OTbase Inventory administrator
* Currently, when you start the executable you will see an error message regarding "TCADS" not being supported. You can safety ignore the message as it does not impact the execution of the OTbase Discovery Executable. This warning will be patched out in a later version.
