There can be several reasons why Asset Discovery is unable to detect the identity of a particular device:
The device only uses network protocols that are not supported by the current version of Asset Discovery
Remedy: Contact us with the specifics of the product, especially protocols used. We are extending the list of supported protocols in Asset Discovery constantly.
The device uses network protocols that are supported by the current version of Asset Discovery, but these protocols are not activated or configured properly
An example would be a device that supports SNMP in general, but the SNMP service is not activated. To remedy the situation, activate the service in the device's configuration.
The device cannot be accessed by Asset Discovery because it is protected by a firewall or Access Control List
Remedy: Change the configuration of your firewall, switch or router in order to allow Asset Discovery to access the device.
An error occured.
If something just seems to go wrong, select the device in the device table. Then, in the Device Details drop-down-menu, select "Diagnostics" and click the button "Save Diagnostics". The result file contains encrypted diagnostic data that you can send us for inspection.
