OT-BASE can import complex asset inventories in the Portable Inventory Data format as specified in the Help Center in the "Integrators and Developers" category. A Portable Inventory Data file can be produced by OT-BASE (by exporting asset data) or by other software applications. If you wanted to, you could even create such a file manually.
In order to import Portable Inventory Data, go to INVENTORY/IMPORT and select the "Portable Inventory Data" tab if not active already. Then, click on "Choose File" to select the file that you want to import, and click "Import".
Character set
Internally, OT-BASE Asset Center uses the UTF-8 character set. Make sure that any strings in your JSON file conform to UTF-8.
Required access rights
For importing Portable Inventory Data files, you don't have to be the OT-BASE Asset Center administrator. Regular users can do that as well, given that they are member of a role where the "Import" box is checked.
