What is Docker, and why is it required by OTbase Inventory?

Docker is a popular container platform that is used by OTbase Inventory. You can learn more about Docker here. In order to install OTbase Inventory, you must already have Docker installed and running. Docker can run on different host environments, but Linux is the preferred OS.

OTbase Inventory uses Docker because it makes deployment much easier since you have to mess less with version conflicts etc. Compared to a full Virtual Machine, the Docker container is much more efficient because it saves you to always install a full deployment environment when installing updates.
