Note: This doesn't apply to the SaaS version of OTbase Inventory
If you participate in the annual technical support plan for OTbase you will receive product updates every now and then.
There are two different types of updates:
- Container updates which are shipped as a Docker container
- Inline patches for minor fixes, which are installed in-place within OTbase Inventory.
For the process of installing inline patches please see The system maintenance area.
Container updates
Installing a container update is done by executing the installation script:
> bash ot-base.install
The script will automatically produce a backup before removing the existing OTbase container, and use the restored database during startup.
Before installing an update, don't forget to notify your users that OTbase Inventory will be unaccessible for a while. The exact amount of time depends on how long it takes to create and restore the backup, which largely depends on the number of devices and number (and size) of file attachments for your installation.
