In this section you'll learn how to connect your PBIX report to Fabric Power BI and schedule a data refresh.
Installation
Install the on premise data gateway and ensure your custom connector shows up on the Connectors tab
Note: You may need to add a permission for NT SERVICE\PBIEgwService to your Documents\Power Bi Desktop\Custom Connectors folder
Manage Connections
Your gateway cluster should now appear in Fabric. You can check this by selecting the gear icon (top right) then navigate to Manage Connections and Gateways.
Now, enable the checkbox Allow user’s custom data connectors to refresh through this gateway cluster
Finally, import data into Power BI Desktop using the OTbase Connect 4. Once loaded, click Publish to push the data to your Power BI workspace.
Gateway Connection and Scheduling
Open your Fabric Power BI workspace and view the Settings on the Semantic Model by clicking the three dots next to the Semantic Model.
Select the Data Gateway and Cloud Connections dropdown:
Click the arrow to the right under Actions and the select Manually Add to Gateway.
Configure the parameters on the ride hand sidebar, in the same fashion as entering them in Power BI when using the connector. If you encounter any errors select Skip Test Connection and hit Apply.
Once finished, you’ll notice a Maps to dropdown under the semantic model data gateway and connection section. Select the connection you just created prior.
Back on settings for the semantic model, you can expand the Refresh section and add a scheduled time to perform a data refresh as well as contacts to be notified of any failed refresh.
