Introduction to Data Enrichment

After you are successfully importing asset details from OTbase Discovery, it's time to spice up your data. In this section we're looking at the most important ways to make your asset inventory more useful. All of these have to do with adding metadata, or data about data. In a nutshell, metadata is what glues asset data to use cases.

All of the metadata that is discussed in this section cannot be discovered automatically, but that doesn't mean it would be difficult or labor-some to add. Usually some of this data will be available in digital form already and just needs to be imported properly.

While data enrichment in general will happen mostly during the later stages of an OTbase deployment, it is strongly suggested to start early. Metadata will give your users more value of asset information early on, and it will especially help users to understand much more quickly what OT asset management is all about.
