Chances are that you may come across some asset information that's crucial for certain use cases in your organization, but OTbase doesn't provide matching database fields for it. No problem, you can extend the OTbase data model on the fly.
Defining custom fields
In order to do this, go to INVENTORY then EXTENDED and select the Custom Fields tab and click on Add.
Now you can add a new field to the database. To learn more about custom fields check out this article.
Filling custom fields with data
You can fill custom fields with data manually or via import. For manual data entry, open the respective device(s) in Edit mode. For data entry via import, use the Excel import functionality in INVENTORY/IMPORT/Excel.
Exposure of custom fields
Custom fields are exposed in the Extended section of device profiles.
Your custom fields will also be exposed in SEARCH output. In order to make it happen, right-click on any of the column headers in the output area and select the fields you want to use.
