Once that everything is configured properly, especially the credentials, it's time to validate your settings by doing a discovery probe and checking the results.
Starting the Probe in OTbase Discovery
Clicking on Probe will initiate a probe for all networks for which you have set the Export flag.
If you want to probe an individual network or endpoint, select it first from the available options in the left pane. Then right click it to bring up the context menu.
Monitoring Discovery's Progress
The progress of OTbase Discovery can be viewed in the left pane. This is where you can see results of the probing as well as any issues that may arise. The first thing you will notice is a table filling up with IP addresses. Thereafter, additional details may pop up depending on the specific protocol and endpoint.
Yellow represents current probing activity and Green represents completed successful probing.
Completed Probe
When you have completed your first probe, check your results by going through the endpoint objects in the object list and checking their device details in the right pane.
Note the drop-down menu under Device Details; it allows you to check additional detail such as installed software or firmware.
Do not export right now
No matter how tempted you might be, DO NOT EXPORT YOUR DATA to OTbase Inventory without properly configuring your metadata first.
