After downloading the latest version of OTbase Discovery from the OTbase download portal, double-click or run the file as administrator to start the installation.
Stopping a Discovery Service that's running already
In the event that you already have an instance of OTbase Discovery running in the background, maybe from a trial or previous version, the installer will stop that service. Click "OK".
Choose Installation Folder
Set your installation location for OTbase Discovery
Choose flow collectors
OTbase can collect your data flow if your network gear supports either NetFlow or SFlow. In that case you can activate data flow collection in this screen. If your network gear uses non-standard ports, you can specify these details here.
REST Server Port
If you plan on programmatically configuring OTbase Discovery, you may use the default port, or enter your own. Otherwise you may leave it unchecked.
Service Port
Leave this setting to default 44461 port number. It's the TCP port which is used by the OTbase Discovery configuration client to connect to the OTbase Discovery service. For remote connections, make sure that this port is not blocked by a firewall.
If you followed these steps correctly OTbase Discovery will be successfully installed.
Run the OTbase Discovery Configuration Client
When launching OTbase Discovery on your desktop, what you actually see is the configuration client. The real work is done behind the scenes by the Discovery service, which doesn't have a user interface on its own. This makes sure that scheduled asset discoveries are executed even without somebody being logged on to the PC. The default credentials for logon are admin/langner.
