The OTbase Discovery Proxy is an optional component of the OTbase Discovery Manager and can be selected during install. The proxy is capable to receive export data from OTbase Discovery nodes and OTbase Discovery Agents and forward them to a location of your choosing, e.g. an OTbase Inventory instance.
Installation
During installation of OTbase Discovery Manager, you also get the option to install the OTbase Discovery Proxy.
Selecting the proxy will allow you to configure the local service port. The service port is used for configuration via Discovery Manager. The HTTPS port will act as the listening port for data that is exported by OTbase Discovery nodes and agents.
After the installer has completed installing the components, you can manage the proxy configuration through the Discovery Manager.
Configuration
To configure the OTbase Discovery Proxy, click the proxy icon highlighted below.
The Configuration dialog that appears will allow you to configure the proxy. Data receiving, and data forwarding can be enabled and disabled individually. The path to store received data is preconfigured to be the %TEMP%-directory and is scanned by the data forwarder every 60 seconds to look for new data. The remainder of the data forwarder configuration is the same as the export configuration for Discovery nodes and Discovery Agents which is explained here: Exporting asset data
Data Receiving
If you want to send export data to OTbase Discovery Proxy, you need to configure Discovery nodes and Discovery Agents accordingly. You just need to select HTTPS in the Discovery Client and Agent config, resp. and use the hostname or IP address of the computer where the proxy is installed. The path can stay empty as the proxy is listening in on the root. Please make sure that HTTPS port used during the install is configured properly in firewalls. More on data export configuration can be found here: Exporting asset data.
As mentioned, you may export data from other OTbase Discovery nodes and agents. To do so, please view the following articles
