The OTbase Discovery Proxy is an optional component of the OTbase Discovery Manager and can be selected during install. The proxy is capable to receive export data from OTbase Discovery nodes and OTbase Discovery Agents and forward them to a location of your choosing, e.g., an OTbase Inventory instance.
Install
OTbase Discovery Proxy is is installed during the OTbase Discovery Manager installation.
Selecting the proxy will allow you to configure the local service port (for configuration via Discovery Manager) and the HTTPS port that is used for data reception.
Once the install has installed the components, you can manage the configuration of the proxy via Discovery Manager.
Configuration
You can configure the OTbase Discovery Proxy by clicking the proxy symbol highlighted below. Please note that the icon will only be visible if Discovery Proxy is installed and running.
A dialog will appear and allow you to configure the proxy. Data receiving, and data forwarding can be enabled and disabled individually. The path to store received data is preconfigured to be the %TEMP%-directory and is scanned by the data forwarder every 60 seconds to look for new data. The remainder of the data forwarder configuration is the same as the export configuration for Discovery nodes and Discovery Agents which is explained here: Exporting asset data
Data Receiving
If you want to send export data to OTbase Discovery Proxy, you need to configure Discovery nodes and Discovery Agents accordingly. You just need to select HTTPS in the Discovery Client and Agent config, resp. and use the hostname or IP address of the computer where the proxy is installed. The path can stay empty as the proxy is listening in on the root. Please make sure that HTTPS port used during the install is configured properly in firewalls. More on data export configuration can be found here: Exporting asset data.
